Where contacts come from

Everyone a comment automation answers, and everyone who sends you a DM or replies to a story, becomes a contact, with the source Instagram comment, Instagram DM or Instagram story reply. For people who messaged your account, ChatPeak fills in their name, username and profile photo from Instagram. You can also add and import contacts yourself.

Find contacts

  • Search

Matches names, sources, tags and email addresses.

  • Tag filter

Shows contacts with one tag. The list offers the workspace's tags, most used first.

  • Segments

All, or No email for contacts without an email address.

The page loads the 500 most recently added contacts. The cards at the top show the total, the share with an email address, contacts tagged buyer and the average lead score.

Add a contact

Select Add contact. A name or a handle is required. You can also enter an email address, a phone number, the platform, a source (Manual unless you change it) and tags separated by commas.

Import from CSV

Select Import and choose a CSV file whose first row contains the column names. These columns are recognised:

ColumnNotes
name, full_name or full nameThe contact's name
emailStored in lower case
phoneOptional
handle or usernameThe social handle
platforminstagram, tiktok or facebook, defaults to instagram
sourceDefaults to CSV Import
tagsSeveral tags separated by semicolons, for example lead;vip
  • Every row needs a name, an email or a handle

Rows with none of the three are skipped.

  • Email addresses update existing contacts

A row whose email already belongs to a contact in the workspace updates that contact. If one file contains the same email more than once, only the last of those rows is used.

  • Rows without an email are always added

They create new contacts each time, so importing the same file twice duplicates them.

Imported contacts only receive messages from ChatPeak once they write to your Instagram account, because Instagram does not let a business message people first.

Export to CSV

Export downloads the contacts currently shown, so filter or search first to export a subset. The file has the columns Name, Email, Phone, Platform, Source, Tags, Score, Last Active and Added. Tags are separated by semicolons.

Lead score

Every contact gets a score between 20 and 99. It starts at 45 and adds 6 for each of the workspace's recent messages linked to the contact, 18 when an email address is known and 4 for each tag. Scores of 85 and more are highlighted.
